Late Night Jazz - why not?
If you want something that is assured of giving you sweet dreams, go and listen to some jazz.
Instead of throwing in an old Miles Davis cassette tape and cranking up the tunes, head to your nearest posh restaurant. For me, that would be Bordinos, in downtown Fayetteville Arkansas. It’s a fancy but quaint Italian restaurant with good wine, food and a Thursday night treat ~ jazz.
I’ve always been a fan of jazz. In high school and college, I studied to it. When I took piano, I played a lot of jazz. And of course, in choir, I would sing jazzy songs. But being able to sit with your friends, while quietly chatting, and sipping wine…that was foreign to me.
My fiancee and I finally went, a few thursdays ago. The hue of the room almost matched the red wine in the tinkling glasses that sat before us. The colors were married to the music that was issuing forth from the entergenic man plucking the double base, and waltzed around the room happily .
Fayetteville is a college town, therefore well endowed with activities and arts venues. I’d suggest anyone who live in a college town, or ANY town seek out live jazz. It’s something to experience.
